Introduction

Located in Ayutthaya, Thailand, ATLAS Manufacturing Company Limited operates a rapidly expanding high-tech manufacturing campus with approximately 10,700 m² of built-up space, including multi-tier cleanroom production areas, warehouse zones, facility infrastructure, and offices.

For a site like this, technology is not just “IT infrastructure.” It directly supports how people, materials, and sensitive workflows move through the facility every day. ATLAS needed reliable connectivity, long-retention video, controlled access into sensitive spaces, and monitoring for environmental conditions that affect production quality.

Rather than managing separate systems for network, cameras, doors, and sensors, ATLAS standardized on UniFi as a single full-stack foundation—one platform that could support security operations today and continue scaling through future phases.

The Challenge

A cleanroom campus has operational requirements that go beyond a typical enterprise deployment.

The first requirement was secure separation. Production systems, cleanroom security devices, visitor Wi-Fi, voice, sensors, and perimeter monitoring all serve different purposes. Some systems need to remain offline-first, while perimeter and alarm workflows need the ability to notify the right people quickly.

The second requirement was evidence-ready visibility. ATLAS needed more than live monitoring. The team required 90+ days of video retention, fast review, and the ability to connect camera footage with access events and sensor activity during investigations or audits.

The third requirement was controlled movement. Sensitive areas such as cleanroom transitions, loading zones, warehouse storage, secure material areas, and IT rooms required door access workflows that matched real factory movement—not just simple “open/close” control.

Finally, ATLAS had a unique quality requirement: many electronic components and assembly materials are temperature- and humidity-sensitive. Environmental monitoring therefore became an important supporting layer—not the main system, but a valuable extension of the same operational workflow.

Why UniFi

IT and physical security in one pane of glass
UniFi brings networking, video security, door access, sensors, and site management into one operating model. Instead of switching between disconnected tools, ATLAS can manage day-to-day operations through a consistent UniFi workflow.

Enterprise-Grade, High-Availability Architecture
Dual Enterprise-grade 25G gateways operating in VRRP form a high-availability gateway cluster, while ECS-Aggregation provides a 25G/100G-capable fiber aggregation layer. Together with ECS PoE switching and E7 Wi-Fi 7, this gives ATLAS room to scale cameras, access devices, sensors, phones, tablets, and future production workflows.

Total Physical Security on a Unified Platform
UniFi Protect, Access, and SuperLink sensors work together to deliver total physical security, combining AI-powered surveillance, access control, and environmental awareness in a single platform. With Alarm Manager, teams can create trigger-based alarms and automated workflows that respond to events in real time—enabling proactive monitoring, faster incident response, and actionable on-site automation.

Independent monitoring without major facility modification
SuperLink adds an additional monitoring layer for temperature- and humidity-sensitive areas, including chillers, fridges, freezers, raw material storage, and cleanroom production zones—without requiring major modifications to existing equipment control boards or probes.

Transparent cost control as the site grows
By avoiding recurring software licensing costs, UniFi helps ATLAS expand coverage and capabilities while keeping long-term operational spending more predictable.

Deployment Highlights

With no legacy constraints, ATLAS built a full-stack UniFi deployment where networking, video, access control, and sensors support the same operational goal: secure, efficient, and traceable factory operations.

Core Network: High-Availability Foundation for Secure Operations
The campus core is built around dual Enterprise Fortress Gateways (EFG), forming a high-availability gateway cluster using VRRP. At the aggregation layer, ECS-Aggregation provides a 25G/100G-capable fiber backbone, while ECS PoE switching distributes data and power to cameras, access devices, sensors, and other endpoints across the site.

This foundation supports strict segmentation between production, security, sensors, guest, voice, and infrastructure networks. It allows sensitive systems to remain isolated while still enabling perimeter notifications and operational visibility where needed.

UniFi Protect: Long-Retention Video for Perimeter and Internal Review

ATLAS deployed 91 UniFi Protect cameras across perimeter approaches, walkways, cleanroom corridors, warehouse and loading areas, stairwells, secure storage, and other key locations. With a mix of AI-capable cameras and 5× AI Key Gen2, the deployment turns video into an active investigation layer—helping the team search events faster, identify repeated activity patterns, and use Alarm Manager workflows to trigger more proactive responses across perimeter, cleanroom, loading, and sensitive-access areas.

The system is designed for 90+ days of video retention, supported by local and off-site storage strategies. ENVR-Core and ENVR support different monitoring roles, while UniFi Site Manager and on-site video walls keep the experience seamless for security teams monitoring both internal and perimeter zones.

The value became clear during repeated suspicious perimeter activity. ATLAS used UniFi Protect footage and event records to document vehicle presence patterns—such as frequency and duration—and provide records to authorities for follow-up.

UniFi Access: Controlled Movement Through Sensitive Areas

ATLAS uses UniFi Access across clock-in/out points, cleanroom entrances, turnstiles, secure storage areas, warehouse zones, IT rooms, meeting rooms, and other controlled spaces.

At key transitions, G3 Reader Pro provides a modern entry experience and visible verification at the door. For interlocked areas such as loading and warehouse transitions, ATLAS combines Access Hub/Mini, G3 Reader Pro, USL-Entry, and third-party logic control so only the appropriate door can open at the right time.

For example, when an external metal roller shutter is open, internal warehouse and walkway doors remain locked. Only once the external shutter is closed can the next door be opened. If USL-Entry detects an open event without an approved unlock event, the team can treat it as a forced-open event and review the corresponding access and video timeline.

SuperLink Sensors: Facility-Wide Monitoring and Response

SuperLink extends the ATLAS deployment beyond traditional cameras and door access into a facility-wide sensor layer. With 8 SuperLink Gateways and 215 sensors planned across environmental, entry, air quality, glassbreak, motion, and siren use cases, ATLAS can monitor changes across cleanrooms, storage areas, fire exits, access points, and critical infrastructure.

In temperature- and humidity-sensitive areas, ATLAS uses environmental sensors in deep freezers, chillers, fridges, raw material storage rooms, and Class 10K / Class 100K cleanroom production areas. This gives the team an independent monitoring layer for sensitive materials without major modifications to freezer, chiller, or storage control systems.

ATLAS also pairs entry sensors with freezer and chiller doors. When a hatch is opened, the event can be reviewed alongside temperature/humidity trends and UniFi Protect footage, helping supervisors and quality teams understand whether an out-of-range condition came from equipment performance, operator behavior, or a door left open too long.

For security response, SuperLink also supports fire exits and access points as part of a broader event workflow. Entry events, sirens, cameras, and planned glassbreak detection can work together through Alarm Manager to flag forced exits, open-door events, or intrusion attempts with the right video context for faster review and response.

The Result

By standardizing on UniFi, ATLAS built more than a security system. It created a full-stack operational foundation for a cleanroom campus where connectivity, video, access, and sensors reinforce each other.

  • Sensitive production and security systems can remain segmented while perimeter workflows stay responsive.
  • Long-retention video gives the team practical evidence for audits, investigations, and perimeter incidents.
  • Access events, camera footage, and sensor triggers can be reviewed together instead of in disconnected systems.
  • Environmental monitoring helps protect temperature- and humidity-sensitive materials and supports product quality consistency.
  • Interlocked access workflows help control movement between loading, warehouse, cleanroom, and secure storage areas.
  • UniFi gives ATLAS a repeatable blueprint for future expansion without adding recurring software licensing costs.
UniFi has been a gem for the ATLAS site. With Protect, Access, and SuperLink, we can document perimeter activity, secure sensitive areas, and monitor critical conditions across the facility.

Looking Ahead

ATLAS plans to continue expanding its UniFi full-stack workflows as the facility grows. Upcoming priorities include Glassbreak detection for potential window-based access points, future non-US SuperLink air quality / smoke / gas sensors, and more advanced cross-workflows between UniFi Protect and UniFi Access.

The secure mobile trolley concept is another future use case: using UniFi Access, cameras, sensors, and wireless uplink to secure sensitive material movement across mixed-security zones.
