Introduction

Sunnyvale Covenant Church, located in New Taipei City, recently opened a brand-new campus designed to serve both its growing congregation and an on-site kindergarten.

This multi-purpose facility operates in two very different modes: high-density gatherings during weekend services, and structured daily education with strict safety and access requirements for young children.

Rather than layering technology on top of the building after completion, the church saw an opportunity to design a unified digital foundation from the ground up—one that could support both connectivity and security in a simple, scalable way.

The Challenge

Designing infrastructure for a new campus meant balancing performance, safety, and simplicity.

The church needed reliable, high-capacity Wi-Fi to support hundreds of concurrent users, while also ensuring secure access control for classrooms, kindergarten areas, and staff-only spaces.

At the same time, the team wanted to avoid the complexity of managing multiple disconnected systems. Rather than dealing with a chaotic mix of vendors for networking, surveillance, and door access, the church administration and their integration partner, Kevtron Technology, were looking for a way to bring structure and clarity to campus operations—without adding ongoing licensing costs or operational overhead.

Why UniFi

UniFi was selected as a direct answer to these requirements.

From fragmented systems to one platform Instead of stitching together separate solutions, UniFi brings networking, surveillance, and access control into a single, unified interface—making day-to-day management significantly simpler.

Lower operational burden for a lean team With no recurring licensing and a highly intuitive interface, the IT team can manage the entire campus without relying on complex integrations or external systems.

Built for real-world environments From high-density Wi-Fi to integrated door access and video security, every component is designed to work together—delivering consistent performance across different usage scenarios.

A foundation that can grow By standardizing on one ecosystem from day one, the church now has a deployment model that can scale or be replicated without re-architecting the system.

Deployment Highlights

With no legacy constraints, the deployment was designed as a fully integrated system from the start—where networking, surveillance, and access control work together seamlessly.

Reliable Connectivity for Every Space

At the center of the network is a USW-Pro-Aggregation switch, connecting five 48-port PoE switches and two 24-port PoE switches to distribute both data and power across the building.

From there, 41 U6-Pro access points were carefully placed across worship halls, classrooms, and offices. The result is consistent, high-quality Wi-Fi that holds up even during peak services, while remaining stable for everyday teaching and administration.

To keep things running smoothly behind the scenes, power is monitored through five USP-PDU-Pro units, and the entire system is routed and managed centrally through a UDM-SE.

Unified Surveillance with Local Control

Across the campus, 81 cameras provide full visibility—from entrances to hallways to outdoor areas.

Three UNVR-Pro systems handle recording and storage, keeping all video data on-site and allowing for extended retention—an important requirement for environments involving children.

Instead of relying on dedicated workstations, staff can instantly view live feeds using UniFi Viewports, making monitoring simple and accessible.

Secure, Everyday Access Control

Access control is focused on protecting kindergarten zones and staff-only areas without disrupting daily flow.

Five UA-Hubs manage key doors, paired with UA-G2-Pro readers at main entrances (with built-in intercom) and standard UA-G2 readers for internal movement.

Staff can move freely throughout the campus, while visitors can be verified before entry—creating a secure but frictionless experience.

The Result

By standardizing on UniFi, Sunnyvale Covenant Church transformed what could have been a fragmented, multi-system deployment into a single, cohesive platform.

The IT team now manages networking, surveillance, and access control from one interface—reducing complexity while improving visibility across the entire campus.

Just as importantly, the system supports both sides of the organization’s mission: delivering reliable connectivity for large gatherings while maintaining a safe, controlled environment for children and staff.

Before UniFi, managing multiple systems would have required significantly more time and effort. Now, everything is in one place—it’s simple, reliable, and exactly what we needed for a campus like this.
